Re: Ask a Strip Club Bouncer..
Can you answer about sambo? I'm pretty curious about it, and i could just wikipedia or something but screw that.
I have a background in mostly boxing, wrestling and BJJ. How is sambo, i.e. striking aspect, grappling, submission, secret death moves, etc.? |

Sambo is mostly striking, some submission, no real "Secret Death Moves" just common sense death moves. Sambo is mostly a 3 part system: 1) Muscle Building 2) Muscle Control (How to punch, kick with the most force) 3) Strike Points (Where to hit) Sambo is not beautiful or artistic. The moves are not very difficult, they're just very effective. Sambo isn't used very much in MMA competition because, although I'm not an expert on MMA fighting, I would imagine about 75% of my fighting techniques would be illegal in any form of competition. ~Mike |

Knees to groin, thrust kicks to kneecaps, kicks that will snap ankles, as well as eye gouging. The basic pattern is this: 1: Take opponents ability to breath 2: Take opponents mobility 3: Take away consciousness Another principal that is very important to Americans is this ridiculous idea that there is somehow a "fair" and "unfair" way to fight, and that certain moves and tactics are "dirty". Sambo retrains your outlook on conflict in general, and honestly, just changing your mental outlook in a fight can help alot. ~Mike |

Re: Ask a Strip Club Bouncer..
Mike, I agree with that a lot. I participate in 'sport' combat, and one day i hope to be very good at it. But there are things beyond it.
[ QUOTE ] Sambo retrains your outlook on conflict in general, and honestly, just changing your mental outlook in a fight can help alot. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with this as well. If you search 'bas rutten' on youtube you'll find a funny vid where he shows 9843279238 ways to kill someone in a bar. It's edited to make fun of some of them and to make fun of his english, but the point he's making is that when someone comes at me to do me serious harm, I'll pretend to be cool and then shatter glass in their face, groin shot, stab them with my pen, pick up my chair and use it, etc. His mental outlook towards a street fight is completely in line with what you are talking about. |
