Re: Movies You Like Nobody Believes Are Good
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Also while I'm thinking about it, I even liked The Postman. I think Kevin Costner gets way more [censored] than he deserves. [/ QUOTE ] Uggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....I'd venture to say I'm way more open-minded than most when it comes to movies, especially with regards to sci-fi, but the Postman was pure, utter garbage. Worst of all the cliché-filled movie by Costner, and that's saying a lot. The book is (from what I remember, more than 10 years since I read it) very good, but of course he butchered it completely. And no, he doesn't get more [censored] than he deserves, if anything he gets too little [/ QUOTE ] I came out of The Postman thinking, 'hey that wasn't a bad film'. I found out that it was considered one of the worst movies the year. I still enjoyed it, though. Count this one for me! |

[ QUOTE ]
Snakes on a Plane. It delivered exactly what it promised and more. Everyone thinks that it's a piece of crap, and most people never even saw it. To 90% of the replies in this thread: This is NOT a thread about movies that you like that other people hate. It's about movies that you think are good (for whatever reason) that are immediately discounted as junk based on reputation, title, or something. [/ QUOTE ] Everything in this post is right. Can't believe I missed Snakes on a Plane which was way better than I expected going in. |

Re: Movies You Like Nobody Believes Are Good
Can't believe I'm the first to include Demolition Man. Probably rented this movie a dozen times when I was 10. I'll stay on the channel that's playing it if I happen to find it. It's an awesomely cheesy guilty pleasure; it's even better now that I've read all the novels/some of the authors whose names are not-so-subtly peppered throughout this film. The symbolism is about as subtle as a Mike Tyson uppercut, but damned if I don't enjoy this movie still.

Troy? [/ QUOTE ] I thought Troy was an example of everything right and wrong with Hollywood. On one hand the action sequences were absolutely incredible, the kind of thing you can only with a budget of $100M+. On the other hand, who but Hollywood writers would be so arrogant as to change a story that's been popular for over 2500 years. |
