in interest of fair reporting, I do have L'ville at over +1700 to win the nat'l title, but this really isn't about that

Cal lost all momentum with that home OT game vs. Washington. They really had it rolling and have now become an afterthought. Beating USC will get them back in the conversation, but how could they possibly catch the 1-loss SEC teams in the polls with that Tennessee monkey on their back? I don't see it happening.

As I've said countless times, and been shot down every time, USC will finish ahead of L'ville in the computers and are easily the team with the best shot to get in with one loss. The toughest part for them will be winning out.

Are these fumble stats accurate?:

Steve Slaton

If so, the arm injury was a very bad break for WVU. Slaton apparently hadn't ever fumbled in 360ish career touches prior to this game.

I thought tonight's game looked like NFL Blitz or something. It'd be fun to see a Big East team with it's highly touted offense against an SEC team with it's vaunted defense.

Forgot about last years Sugar Bowl already buddy?

(Sigh) OK, PM me...If the title game is OSU/Mich vs. any Big east team, I will give 13 points up to $500. PM if interested.

[/ QUOTE ]

you got it

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok, assuming we are on for $500, PM me for details of ensuring payment (perhaps a reliable 2+2 escrow)

[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like a bet to me. If you don't want an escrow, I'll just give a crappy title to any welchers. But since I'm from Chicago MT2R's will be crappier.

We've confirmed via PM. It's a $500 bet on the honor system.

The general one.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't tell if you are trying to be funny or not.

So, for the OP: What "general weakness" do you perceive the Big East to have this year? Only asking, because the Big East has shown to be one of the better conferences in I-A so far.

[/ QUOTE ]

They have? I'm not sure I've heard of anyone saying that until now. The Big East doesn't have any wins against any teams in the Top 25 I don't believe. THere isn't any love from the computers for any of the undefeated teams (due to lack of schedule strength).

[/ QUOTE ]

Many conference ranking systems have the Big East as high as #3 (behind the SEC and PAC-10). I'll admit that I'm not sold on how solid these ranking systems are, but the Big East is not a weak football conference this year.

Anyone else think this game exposes these teams as completely unworthy of national championship game consideration?

These defenses are a complete joke.

[/ QUOTE ]

i hate responding to obvious trolls, but this game reminded me a lot of last year's national championship. 79 points, 1130 yards, 7.15 yds/play for USC/Texas... 78 points, 1008 yards, 7.81 yds/play for Louisville/WVirgina. The apparant lack of defense doesn't mean the teams aren't good.
