Hah, I just remembered one that I mispronounced horribly.

Milpitas is a city in Silicon Valley... I used to pronounce it Mill-Lip-It-Uss instead of the correct Mill-P-Tuss.

I had just moved there and met a girl at a bar, and she asked where I was from. She busted up, corrected me, and no, I had no chance after that.

For some reason, I still want to pronounce "steroid" as "stare-rer-roid".

I grew up in Minnesota, so most words ending in -ag. Also, root, roof. So many times I've had to repeat myself three times before realizing my roommate understood what I was saying, but just wanted to keep on hearing me say boat like a funny northerner.

I still pronounce forehead as "far-head" to this day. Once, someone noticed it and told me it was a "Pennsylvania accent" and has something to do with the Pennsylvania Dutch... I didn't believe them but my friends from back home say the same thing. I guess I am really dumb after all.

Derek: by the way, with your complexion, you really shouldn't be wearing
your hair pulled back that tight
Matilda: what are you talking about?
Derek:It pulls back the skin on your forehead, creating a tension, which clogs the pores

Derek Zoolander definitely pronounces it far-head, why that was the first thing that popped into my head reading this post, i dunno.

'MAYzher' for measure is one that's annoying to hear. I don't care if it's a legit alternate or not.

Interestingly, a lot of surgeons I know pronounce the word centimeter as SONT-imeter. WTF? I have never understood this.

I used to pronounce aficionado "a-fee-shando" which doesn't make sense, but sounds better than "a-fish-ee-a-nado"
