Jesus Christ dude, both those bands are so generic and terrible. And I've heard them both.

The only distinction to be made between them and Sugar Ray is that they have a sound that is marketable now, whereas Sugar Ray's stopped being marketable ten years ago (lol GA is old). Other than that, they pretty much suck equally.

I gotta backup goofy here (and accept the criticism that it will bring). BrandNew may be a lot of things you don't like, but they are without a doubt a more quality band than sugar ray. And they don't really compare to Dashboard Confessional (who I absolutely abhor) because BN actually has changed and grown musically over each of their albums, and actually has some pretty hard rock songs on their latest two. I really think you should give 'Deja Entendu' (and that song I listed which got no radio play BTW) or 'The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me' a listen before you totally smack them down. I haven't heard their original stuff, but the album reviews on napster say it was more punk-pop and that might be the source of some of your bias.

anyway, I'm sure I'll get bashed for writing this, but saying they are with or worse than Sugar Ray is LOL.

What makes music good in your eyes, when it's either more than 10 years old or Google searches only yield results from indie music blogs, AMIRITE? I don't watch MTV, or listen to the radio, so I have no idea why I would think a particular band is "good" just because their sound is "marketable." What the [censored] does that even mean? Does that have anything to do with, say, melody, or vocal emotion, or other things that give particular series of sounds a quality of being pleasurable to the human ear or the ability to evoke pathos? Yeah, wait, of course it does, cause any band that is popular can't possibly be doing anything worthwhile as far as advancing music as an art! Jesus [censored] christ.
