Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
It's funny how he can put in Rivera and still mess it up.
He put in Rivera to face the A's worst 3 hitters, and takes him out the next inning to put Bruney in against the top of the order. |

Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
haha Brian Bruney being a badass:
Bruney said he watched the highlight of Oakland rookie Travis Buck slamming his helmet in celebration after scoring the winning run in the 11th inning Friday night and took extra pleasure in ending this game by striking Buck out. "To see a guy slam his helmet in front of you after the game was over last night makes it a little extra special to finish it off against him," Bruney said. "I thought that was a little disrespectful last night. Our guys win with class." |

Re: ~~~ OFFICIAL YANKEES 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS OR BUST THREAD ~~
Respect. The pen held up and did a good job tonight... being a Vancouverite living in residence in Calgary for school, I don't get to see many baseball games... especially not on Sportsnet West (much more on Pacific). Anyways... Saturday night, Yanks @ A's was a great surprise. Good game, I though. A-Rod slugs his 7th, and the pen did alright. I thought a key point was that snag by Jeter off of Kendall's 11th (12th maybe?) inning liner up the gut.

Jeter is also racking up the errors early in the season...

thayer -
i think you have to drop this one. almost no manager uses their closer the way you suggest. it's unfortunate that the 'save' has created this mess - but there it is. really it comes down to money. |

Jeter with another error.
The only positive in his awful defense was his ability to not make an error. Sigghhhh |

[/ QUOTE ] thats the way francona uses papelbon, more or less. last game, for example, in a 3 run game w/ vlad guerrero up and men on 1st and 3rd in the 8th (1 out), he brought on papelbon to get vlad to k and a flyout from (hillebrand? i forget), and brought in timlin for the 9th relief ace > closer |
