Which is not a way a runner can reach first in baseball.

I guess you are counting steal as dropped 3rd strike?

[/ QUOTE ]

i had to do some reading, and it appears "steal" is the correct answer to this.

i thought steal was ok thinking of the the uncaught third strike. it registers as a K for the pitcher but i am still not sure how it shows up for the runner.

i had never heard of "umpire's choice" so i answered that. found out that's some new-fangled fancy rule that sounds made up anyway and enforcing it is probably as good an idea as introducing astroturf.

how the F does a pitcher balk with no one on base? why is he pitching from the stretch and/or checking the non-existent runners? i've never heard of a balk without a base runner

yeah, kind of unusual for it to happen but it does on occasion. and as you alluded to your post, a pitcher doesnt have to use the stretch only when runners are on. and the stretch is going to be the more likely culprit for a balk.

(d) If the pitcher makes an illegal pitch with the bases unoccupied, it shall be called a ball unless the batter reaches first base on a hit, an error, a base on balls, a hit batter or otherwise.

The spider question is sorta a trick question.

When was the last time someone died from getting bit by a daddy long legs?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not a trick question

[/ QUOTE ]

This is not a trick question.

I take it that you think a Daddy Long Legs cannot penetrate your skin and therefore this a trick question. Is that correct? If that's your belief, then I'll share some info about the answer.

Keeping in line with OP's original instructions, I'll try this question.

Please don't look this up. Just answer as soon as you read this question.

The square root of 4 is both 2 and "something else." Do you see why?
