pretty damn tough call, yah - worse yet when it's an animal you love -

hate having to make this choice, but we do - but my financial resources are decent enough where the guilt would have me getting him to the vet -

funny you mentioned this, I came about 1 inch from running a squirrel over coming back from the carwash about 2 mintues ago...

if it's dumb enough to run right in front of my car, it's not worth saving

I was under the impression that if you take a wild animal to the vet, they have certain obligations and you are not responsible for any fees.

Am I way off?
