"couldn't you raise an amount preflop so that you could "go" on the flop?

a go-n-go?"

I do this somewhat frequently, especially with hands like 99/TT or AK/AQ where calling preflop is less appealing (because its much harder to trap somebody with those hands). I don't mind calling with QQ here preflop because a large portion of my equity comes from trapping.

That is, im not just calling because the stacks are awkward for a reraise, im calling because i think on low flops i may trap him.

I don't like that you never showed any aggression the whole hand when you had premium starting cards and only one overcard hit the flop. Was he so conservative that he was folding his high jack all the time so that if he raised, you knew he had AA AK KK?

I prefer a real-steal pre-flop; barring that, bet the flop to represent the king, or bet the turn. I really don't like the river call - you gave him cards that could beat you, you've got more than 10xBB if you fold.

Just wondering if you checked the river to induce a bluff or if checking it down would have been your first choice?

What are the chances that he has you beat on the river?

What are the chances he calls a push on the river with a worse hand (TT,JJ....)?

Did you decide that you were going with this hand after the check, check flop?

jloc.

"What are the chances that he has you beat on the river?"

beats me. that's why i posted it.

"What are the chances he calls a push on the river with a worse hand (TT,JJ....)?"

pretty much zero i think.

"Did you decide that you were going with this hand after the check, check flop?"

Barring something changing my mind basically.

It seems to be the trend (and I agree) that if you decide to play your big PP's slowly preflop (just limp or call a raise) then the rest of the hand should be played in a fashion to induce a bluff/control the potsize. Wheras if you raise or reraise preflop you are looking to now bloat or jam the pot as you have now chosen to be the aggressor.

why? do the chips count less if he bets and I call?

How is reraising with QQ a resteal?
Why do I want to represent a K...and what's to say that I wouldnt play a K exactly this way?

MLG,

what if you bet 5k on the river. do you think he would ever come over the top with less than AK? if not, is that a way to get to showdown/win the pot without having to make such a difficult river decision?

I gotta be honest, when i somehow got to the river with 10k in my stack and 15k in the pot a weird blocking bet to preserve some chips wasn't really in my thoughts. its not a bad idea though.

MLG whats villains stack? I think its quite possible your behind here given villain is conservative. I think he certainly plays a set/boat this way. However he could have AsXs and be pushing air on river. Given that I probably call as well. My post flop play needs work so I would have pushed or reraised and pushed any flop.
