And, you should also seek someone competent to help you but not just someone who treat problem gamblers but has good insight into pshychiatry (a psychiatrist who can evaluate the anxiety problem without jumping to the conclusion that it is strictly a gambling problem).

IMHO, don't go to a psychiatrist. He or she will inevitably cram pills down your throat, which will never get to the fundamental cause of the problem. See a psychologist. In most states, they can prescribe pills if necessary (if not, most are more than happy to refer), but they are much more likely to use other techniques to address the issue and avoid the common psychiatric fallacy of biological reductionism. Using psychotropic drugs to stop a gambling addiction doesn’t solve the problem. It’s like using Vicodin to stop cancer – it my cover the pain, but doesn’t really solve the problem. Alright…. I’ll step down off my soapbox now. Again, just my view on things. But it's a well-informed view.

You can try the following. Sit down online, and say "I am going to play exactly 10 hands and then leave, win or lose, and I will not come back for at least 1 hour". That is a start.

This is terrific advice.
