i don't think the girl was a very convincing kidnapping victim.

i would expect a real girl being kidnapped by a stranger to struggle violently, scream as loud as she can and say "let me go," "help," etc.

i don't think she struggled hard enough to be convincing, and yelling "somebody help me, you're not my dad" in a whiny voice over and over sounds like a little girl trying to be a pain to her stepdad or something.

i think if the kidnapping had been real a lot more people would have helped. i think a lot of people's intuition told them that the girl wasn't in danger, and most of them would be able to tell the difference.

I think it was less the little girl and the way the guy was acting, as far as discerning if she was in danger. The guy didnt act like a person of authority to her, or that he knew her. Which made it a little fishy.

yeah but if that was happening, even if you weren't sure if it was just a kid acting up or if it was serious , you would think more people would stop to watch just to try to figure out what is going on , you know ?

The girl was screaming "somebody help me you're not my dad". How much more do you need? Also, how many 7 year olds are smart enough or well trained enough to say that? All I was ever taught was "Don't talk to strangers". How many do you think would just remember that and go quiet?

The average persons intuition tends to help a TON at the poker table too.

I just think the type of people that tend to get involved are going to be either:
-Jocks (football, wrestling, etc)
-military grunts (enlisted officers more likely to step up than a CO)
-thuggish ruggish cats
-LEO's

Basically guys that have these qualities:
-people who are used to putting up a fight and aren't afraid to get hurt.
-people that aren't afraid to resist authority
-people that are very well aware that you can't fix everything with a smile and have seen some crime/war in the past.
-anyone that hates pedophiles with a violent passion. (lots of this in jail cell/inner city population)

what is the video of? I don't have IE

[/ QUOTE ]
a clip from the today show about child abduction . they do a bunch of tests of a kid screaming on the street with a guy grabbng her arm and she's yelling "he's not my dad! help me!" and people just keep walking.

[/ QUOTE ]
When learning self-defense as a kid (and later teaching it), I was always taught that yelling a very strong and loud "NO!" is far more effective than just about anything else if you want people to notice.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this just makes you look like an disobedient, idiot kid.

people really hate screaming little kids in public. most people just ignore it and move on as opposed to actually trying to figure out what the kid is screaming about. if it's a week day most people are probably en route to somewhere like to or from work and they're off in their own world anyway. not making excuses or anything but it's the sad truth.

i also can't view the thing because no IE - if i watched it and could see people's reactions, perhaps i'd change my tune.
