WTF is going on here! I open up OOT, and like 30 of the first 50 threads are ask someone about something....

But anyways....I've heard that in Northern Alaska you can come close to 24 hours of daylight in the summer. What's that like?

I lived in Fairbanks for the first 21 years of my life. How about you?

Born in Valdez, moved to Fairbanks when I was 5. Went to college in Colorado and now am back in Fairbanks. About 15 years total in Fairbanks.

I'll try any do this as discretely as possible. Do Alaskan chicks spit or swallow? Do they like anal?

[/ QUOTE ]

Most Alaskan chicks will do whatever you want them to do as long as you have coke or meth.

This isn't ask edfurlong, but I used to work in Prudhoe Bay during the summer when I was in college. It's kind of cool for about two days, but it kind of messed with my head after a while. Even with blackout shades my sleep schedule just never quite got normal.

How's the hunting? What does it cost for a foreign national to hunt there? Is a guide mandatory?

Can you please answer these same questions for US citizens that are not residents of Alaska.

[/ QUOTE ]

Anybody can get a license. Many of the game licenses are lottery style, only so many given out a year. If you are a non-resident of the state you need a guide to hunt bear, sheep or goat.

When I picture the population of Alaska, I pretty much imagine a bunch of dudes with beards wearing flannel. Some of them have gold pans and are missing teeth. How accurate is this perception?

[/ QUOTE ]

For men over the age of 40 this is entirely accurate.

I live in the middle of the state. We have 3 months or so where there is light 24 hours a day. It's not techically sunlight but it is light out. I think its great, golf courses are open 24 hours, there are 24 hour softball tournaments and you can party all night long.

The months of little sunlight is much worse.
