Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
[ QUOTE ]
Does the fact that I am playing only one table change things? It seems to me your added distractions playing 6-8 tables will greatly affect swings. [/ QUOTE ] You should play as many tables as you can without it significantly affecting your ability to make correct decisions...whatever that number may be...it varies by person. The number of tables you are playing does not affect the bankroll suggestions for a certain game. You are just adding to the number of hands you are seeing by multitabling. This doesn't affect your level of variance. |

Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
[ QUOTE ]
There are very few things that I feel comfortable criticizing a well-known pro on. One of them is Matasow's stated bankroll requirements. He said something like 3000 is enough to play 5/10NL. I am totally comfortable saying that he was wrong on that. If you listen to the entire interview, he also says that he doesn't mind going broke frequently. So there you go. If you like going broke, then 2 or 3 buyins is plenty. [/ QUOTE ] I reckon that Mattasow does care about going broke and this is just something he tells others (and himself) to cope with the fact that he keeps on going broke. I think that he has built it up in his own mind that he is truly a top player. I think he plays in games too big for him because of this image and because by plaing in games way above his bankroll, going broke isn't evidence that he is a losing player, but rather it is just the result of playing with too small a bank roll as he'd rather see himself as a wild gambler than a losing player. Based on the little I know of him, I would agree that he has a gambling problem. |

Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
Matusow makes bets he knows he can't win. So I'd say he has a gambling problem

Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
I think being overrolled for the game you are playing is a good thing. I currently have around 60 buy-ins for the NL game I play and I'm very comfortable playing at this level, playing comfortably without fear of going broke. Of course I still plan on moving up eventually. It's just that I'm in no rush while I can steadily try to build my roll in my current game without as much risk of going busto.

Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
2000 big bets is a standard bankroll for NL.
pot size grows exponentially, so its better to measure in terms of buyins than in terms of bb. realse a standard winrate for this game is 8ptbb/100, triple the corresponding limit wr. |

Re: Bankroll - where are you coming from?
oh right, my mistake. I read "Limit:" and thought it meant limit (didn't read any other text).
