I've heard the police actually do tally up all of the moving violations. Could you imagine what the total cost of that alone would be. I guess if you're looking at life in prison, it doesn't really matter.

A few years back, someone stole a Caltrans truck and was in a police pursuit on the 5 south near Commerce. The whole pursuit flew buy me and I didn't understand what was going on until I got home. I just assumed that there was an accident and the police needed Caltrans to direct traffic (the truck had one of those flashing arrows on it).
