Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
Yes, I feel like im ahead in this situation most of the time and I want to get my money in this situation. I just wanted to hear others opinions. It was -EV if i know he has 44 or 55. But im sure this same play can be made with lower flush draws or maybe KQ or 67. Overall, I am fine with what I did, I just wanted to get some thoughts.
Thanks for the responses. theDetroitKid |

Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
I guess my question to the forum was: Do I want to get off this hand? rather than can I get off this hand?

I guess my question to the forum was: Do I want to get off this hand? rather than can I get off this hand? [/ QUOTE ] Calling here is not a difficult or trivial decision. Automatic. |

Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
I'm happy in this spot considering all the money that is in there preflop but I think if the villan and you are both deeper a fold is correct

Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
Hi boondoggle,
[ QUOTE ] What range of hands does Villain push here with?? KQ, K5, 45, AK, AA, 67d, etc? [/ QUOTE ] Hero is even money against this range. Even if Villain has AA, KK, AK, 44, or 55 only, we are 47% to win, and should obviously call. If he always has a set (which he doesn't), we are 30%, so calling would be slightly wrong. [ QUOTE ] I fold and find better situations to get my money all in with Villain. [/ QUOTE ] This is not a tournament; if this spot is +EV (and it clearly is), it doesn't matter if you can get a better spot. |

Ok..maybe I am missing something 1 - 1.87 on your money 1 - 3.2 on odds of winning -EV Villain initially raised (which is common with small to mid pocket pairs) and then pushes on flop after Hero makes 1/2 pot size bet. What range of hands does Villain push here with?? KQ, K5, 45, AK, AA, 67d, etc? At best Hero is ahead if Villain has AK or straight flush draw, only slightly ahead if 2 pair and behind if a set. I fold and find better situations to get my money all in with Villain. cheers Boon [/ QUOTE ] Nothing in this post makes any sense really. |

Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
Yes, you can get off this hand.
If villain says, "I have a set of k's," shows the dealer and the dealer confirms, "This guy does have a set of Kings," then villain turns over his hand, just in case you still don't believe him, and staples both cards to your forehead so each king hangs directly in front of each one of your eyes verifying the truth about his kings. You could fold here. Or, and this is a stretch, you could have a stroke, develop amnesia causing a total loss of memory, and completely forget how to play cards as well as talk. You can't talk or even understand language. In which case, if someone happened to see your cards you wouldn't be able to understand what, "Why havn't you called yet?" means. But still, you might just move the chips in instinctually. So, it's a stretch. |

Re: difficult AKs hand Can i get off it?
I don't know why I second guess myself. I know I should call this, but when the guy made the call preflop of my reraise I figured the only reason he calls is he was trying to hit a set on me. And when he pushed I figured him for a set and I know calling is -ev

44, or 55 only, we are 47% to win [/ QUOTE ] I can tell math is not your speciality. Furthermore, this spot is not +EV. cheers Boon |
