Rrrrr? There are a slew of good and relevant bands in this lineup. Who really cares about the headliners?

How do you figure?

their last album was 2002 which didnt give them too much coverage. californication which did give them a lot of exposure was 1999.

7 years is a long time since a hit album to carry a big show like that.

the promoters and concert goers care.

but most of the bands i do like i have seen over the years. i still love sonic youth and have seen them three times and would be happy to see them again. many other bands ive seen before. i bet ive paid anywhere betweeen $10-20 to see them (on the list i most notably i saw what made milwaukee famous for $10 along w/ clap your hands and the nationals).

$150 just seems like an awful lot for me. i rather see current bands than some of these others that are riding on 10 year old albums and driving ticket prices up.

oh, and thanks to those who updated me on the rhcp album coming out. i like them but they need to step up lately.

WTF? By the Way was a great album and although I haven't given Californication the listen it deserves, I'm pretty sure it was regarded as a great album as well. Just because they're not releasing an album every year or two does not mean they have to "step it up".

Also, there are plenty of bands here that "hipsters" will swoon for.

The ticket price breaks down to a couple of bucks / band. It seems fine. And you're talking about current bands, RHCP will be current again when they release their new album. Man, when was the last time Kanye released an album? I could do this all day.

In a glance, the only weird addition on there to me is Blues Traveler. Heh.

Chili Peppers have always taken a long time between records from what I remember. Since this is going to be a double album I'm not surprised at the lenght of time.

mac,

i see your point. although i know 'by the way' got good reviews but i dont believe it did well in sales. that's all im saying. and im not trying to equate this entire formula to album sales either.

and ticket price/band doesnt mean a thing when there are five or so stages going on at the same time. how many bands/full sets can you really see a day? for $150 im just saying i want more for my money.

the bands I'm really looking forward to seeing:

wilco
broken social scene
the flaming lips
death cab (sorta)
sonic youth
iron and wine
the shins
RHCP

in all honesty I haven't heard of most of the acts but I still think it's gonna be a great show.

The last time I went was '97 and it sucked. I don't see this one being much better.
