We beat AK, but not AQ. Look at the flop.

Give him one raise on the flop, if he 3bets call and fold unless you spike your J on the turn.

[/ QUOTE ]

If the guy is hitting us with AK, then we should just let him keep bluffing. He may just fold if we raise.

Probable hands that beat you: AA, KK, QQ, AKs (22 hands)
Probable hands that you beat: AQs, TT (10 hands)

[/ QUOTE ]

While it's possible that villan has just had a bad run of starting hands for 50 hands I really think your range is wide for hands that villan with these stats would cap with

My initiall thought is that were behind AA, KK, QQ, (tie the unlikely JJ) and ahead of AK only

we should probably fold the flop. 50 hands is enough to tell us this guy is a tight raiser and he has a hand that crushes us.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this. While the read is small, it's all that I had at the time and I should have picked another time to do battle with this player. I'm really trying to increase my aggression but more importantly trying to pick the right spots.

I think you're being results-oriented. I still think calling down is an decent line.

I maybe which is why I posted this here.

But if our read tells us this, isn't it an uphill battle we're facing, as we're crushed by a large percentage of probable opening hands? If it was a common loose passive or loose aggresive I'd think calling down would make sense as his opening hands could be a much larger range and therefore worth the extra BB's to call down, correct?

9/1 over 50 hands is no where near your common loose passive. As well as I'm not putting him on that range because of the initial bet but because of the cap. Against a higher VPIP/ PFR I could see calling down as a viable option though, but it's better to respect a cap from someone this tight over 50 hands.

IF was the keyword in that sentence (I was giving an instance in when I thought it would be good to call down).

fold preflop against someone with stats like that.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is really bad, given that the read was based off all of 50 hands.

I understood that after I reread the quote and my post as a whole then I realized how stupid I sounded. Then I went and took a dump. But didn't go back and edit it. But I understand.
