anyone else here grind out 20K /year without any software help?

I still don't really know how to use a HUD properly and I have been playing on too many different machines to make use of a DB anyways. I don't really use sngpt either, I think doing those calcs by hand for a few months helped my intuitive calculations a lot.

I use SNGPT, but no HUD or PT or anything, and I made $10k in from 1/15 to a week ago. But I'm now down $2,200 in the last week and counting... when I started this reply it was $1,800.

well, you shoulda asked. The secret is to use a fairly blank mod, then make it so it gives 3 stats only for each person at first. use number of hands played, vpip and preflop raise. with only 3 numbers, it isnt too distracting. If it is, use 2 at first, vpip and total hands. when you are completely used to those, add post flop aggression. then later you can add more if ya want.

one thing i do very seriously is take players notes (on screen), i often make note if a person is a multi-tabler, in which case they are often 2p2ers, i also make note if i notice solid (push-bot) play, and if i know that they are a 2p2er. these notes help me tremendously as far as stealing, folding, bluffing etc... but for the most part i think sngs are about the cards and not really 'playing' poker. of course big blind sng is a different animal more so. i guess what im getting at is how much does pahud or any other DB really help? im sure it could hurt you just the same. i would love to see hand examples showing how much PAHUD really helps.

I've been successful on high stakes sngs for a few years and just started on 2+2 last week. But at least the programs made me realize I was luckboxing my way to success.
I don't think anyone can seriously say they're maximixing their profits without trying these programs.

I do not use PAHUD and consider using it to be clear-cut and serious cheating. In fact I'm trying my best to get Party to ban its use.

I don't think it's all too great to keep putting more and more observations under automated processes such as HUDding. I however think it's very valuable to use programs to analyse your game when out of the game.

I'm not a strong beleiver in HUDs and real time help. I think it causes more harm than not many times.
