The bad beat rules vary slightly in that regard... I once thought that your kicker card meant nothing when trips were on the board, and you're holding the case card... Apparently, this isn't so in some casinos with the bad beat. I assume it wouldn't be a bad beat qualifier if the board was 2 2 2 J J, and it was J J vs 2 10, since the quad dueces would be using a J kicker instead... Make sure you always check the rules before playing in a bad beat house. You wouldnt want to make yourself sick over not catching what you thought was the bad beat!

You can have a board of

Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

and have a BBJ too (trick).

Usually both hole cards have to play.

[/ QUOTE ]

They do.

i think he means you have to have a pair to have the bbj qualify.

in this case the op would have had to have had pocket 22 for his hand to qualify. the kicker in the hand doesn't qualify as being part of the hand for some reason.

there is a casino in tulsa where i used to play that has this rule.

ah yes those of us that are sane enough to never play omaha more than once can easily forget the "exactly 3 from the board" rule.
