Incidentally, this occurred at MSN, not AIM. I mention that just in case someone thinks it might be more likely to occur at MSN.

It's far less likely on MSN, 'cause they'd have to have your email to add you, right?

Just happened to me with Skype.
Some dude I had no idea who he was asked me to be added.
Next day going through the list, I ask myself: "Who the hell is this?"
Got no idea.
Deleted. Busto.

I have no idea if this is true or not. But it seems like the hotmail address - which I assume is always linked to the MSN messenger name - is incredibly easy to get. It is unreal how much spam I get on that account, despite constantly using the "junk" mail option.
