I'm trying to get a handle on how big a mistake it is to always be passive here.
How much value is being lost in this pretty common spot if we decide only ever to put more money in post when we hit say, 2p+/combo/maybe TP? Put another way, what percentage of all value in this hand comes from the {preflop 3b + the times we hit big and get paid}? |

You obviously have the odds to continue with MP regardless of what he has, so you're only concerned about BTN. But BTN's actions show he has a crap hand most likely, and could easily just be set mining, have missed overs, etc, etc.. that are just going to muck. |
