Re: Ajo on the button vs. calling stations
If your hand is likely to be ahead, as in this case, raising the turn would be for value, even if BB calls along (as he's a calling station), he's paying the wrong odds to chase some kinda draws. So in this hand, I think raising is fine though both are calling stations.
As for the river, a bet from a calling station who has been so passive throughout is screaming a strong made hand. Normally to call a bet from a calling station, HERO would need a pretty strong hand depending on the board. In this case, too many hands beat HERO's A split pair and J kicker. |

:g:
I would call down expecting to lose to A9. Raising will just fold hands with few outs in a relatively smallish pot not to mention the occational bluff. |

[ QUOTE ] Where your thinking seems a little off is that you think it's bad to bet against calling stations. [/ QUOTE ] I think the question at hand is whether to raise a calling a station (on the turn) or to call a bet from a calling station (on the river). This is significantly different than into a calling station. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, I was taking for granted we are calling the river. |

Re: Ajo on the button vs. calling stations
I think you should have raised the turn because even if he is representing an ACE he probably doesn't have AK or AQ because if he did he should have raised if that was the case. I think you have to call on the river. You don't have a strong enough reason not to call.
