4 K and 4 10's and 3 9's are why you don't check the turn. Besides which maybe he would have check/raised the turn and now didn't bet the river because it paired the board.

Bet for value.

2 pair need value bets with connected pots and bets for protection.

I'd just bet the turn

Why?

[/ QUOTE ]

uh, to make money?

You can't guarantee that villain is going to bet your hand for you. Even if you are correct that this induces a bluff, you'll never be able to guarantee that villain will take the bet.

The only way to ensure that bets are getting in there is if you put them in yourself.

Always bet is a very predicatable strategy don't you think?

Yeah. I predict if you bet two pair you are going to win lots more money than if you check it.

I slow play quads, nut flushes and probably sets ( although I think I do that too much around 1 in 3)

Two pair and straights I never slow play.

I can't count how many times I have been check raised when I had the nuts.

??? Why would you want to do that?

To induce a bluff.

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course, I got that from your title.
But WHY do you want to induce a bluff? Is this some spewish lagtard you're dealing with? Do you know he will bet when he gets checked to?

When you say, "I'm trying to induce a bluff" without giving a read on your opponent or without a reason on WHY your opponent would bluff then it seems strange. So my question stands. WHY do you want to induce a bluff from you opponent?

Yes, but what are they going to do about it? Check-raise with a worse hand? Oh noes! Fold and let you win the pot? Oh noes!

You need to be very very sure villain is going to bluff a HUGE percent of the time if you're going to play this way, AND you must know that he isn't going to bluff/semibluff check-raise. I'd rather be inducing a bluff OOP by check-calling the river than try to induce a bluff in position with a big hand that might get paid off for two or more bets.

Edit: I'd also check to induce a bluff in position on a drawless board with a medium strength hand I want to show down for one bet or less.

I would never make this play with a fish(i would bet for value). This is an average player prolly limping in with an ace rag suited, very common at these stakes.
