Re: If you got Ladanian Tomlinson and a few of his closest friends...
i think rugby union sucks, i think the players are unskilled, and am forever infuriated by the fact that no one spreads the ball out wide.
having said that there is no possible way that you could form a winning team in 6 months. plus you guys are talking like they are on a different planet with regards to athleticism. there are fast men in rugby also! |

You could be the most athletic man in the world, but if you haven't played the game on a regular basis, you'd get crushed.
Just because a basketball player might be faster than a wide receiver doesn't mean he would be a Pro Bowl W in the NFL. |

Or 10 years depending on which argument you are interested in. |

The reverses obviously holds too. I think a team of the rugby players best suited for the NFL would be dogs to a good college team if they had a year or whatever to train. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree with this because there would be certain positions were they would be screwed namely line play and QB play. |

The NBA player you describe may or may not be built in a way that would allow him to be a WR in the NFL. In this hypothetical, we know the players from the NFL have the perfect build to succeed playing rugby. |

In this hypothetical, we know the players from the NFL have the perfect build to succeed playing rugby. [/ QUOTE ] You are begging the question here. Do we really know they have the "perfect" body for success at rugby? Because the Euros are saying the NFL guys are too bulky and sub-par stamina. The issue is that they need to "bulk down", work on their stamina, and learn the game. Which, IMO, takes more than 6 months, but a lot less than 10 years. IMO. |
