even if JJ is in his range he never pays you when you hit. id just fold unless you were multi way with a huge donkey or something.

i think his range is a bit wider, probably includes JJ. but yeah, this has all sorts of reverse implied odds. i think fold is fine. calling is not too bad either, but you have to proceed with extreme caution postflop.

John I cant possibly put JJ in Gravy's range here.

regardless if jj is in his range or not, gravy plays gobs of tables so I doubt he is going on a limb here and making a move on this guy with any worse than AK or a big pair. even if folding IS a mistake, its only a small one. I would fold, plenty of better spots in a sng to make a +ev play.

I agree that we should probably fold against this specific opponent here. But I disagree with everybody's assumption that he "won't pay us" if we hit. Well yes, I doubt he'll go broke with QQ on an A55 board, but we'll quite likely get at least a c-bet out of him before he gives up, and if we hit our king instead of the ace he may be more inclined to keep loving his hand. But I don't think he'll pay us enough (nor will we hit often enough) for it to be profitable. Also factor in the times that we hit our king and he has aces and we go broke...i.e. we're more likely to go broke here than he is IMO, and there's just not enough value in playing it.

As far as people saying that his range is AK, QQ+, well that's just crazy, unless you're making this assumption based on the fact that he's playing a billion tables and therefore is playing silly tight. TT and AQs are likely raising there.

Why? there is only a minraise in front.
How would gravy play jj here?
just calling looks horribly weak..

first hand vs an unknown min raise in position? I like calling here.

You must love playing JJ in 5-way pots.
