Small MMT tourny question?
I was playing in a local MMT tourney last week and I wanted to get some opinions on how a hand should have been played.
Set-up: This is about a 5 table freezeout tournament where the blinds are very aggresive and the levels are 25 mins long. It is the final table with 9 players left and the blinds are 3000-6000 (there was an ante, but at this time i cant remember what it was, most likely it was 500). I am 2nd in chips with about 60k. Even the chip leader is relativly short stacked at 80k. We are all in the money with the payout fairly top heavy. I am in the BB with 10-7os and have been playing tight solid poker, the guy under the gun goes all in(someone I have never played with) and has less than the BB. It folds to the Button who calls the BB(I have played with this guy and he is very loose player, also he is 3rd in chips with about 45k in chips). The guy in the SB goes all in for 9,700. I decide the player on the button is not slow playing a premium hand, I moved in. After a relatively short consideration the limper on the button folds. A regular Tournament player I respect looks at me like im off my rocker when he sees my hand, and asks why i didnt just call the extra 3,700 and check it down to try and eliminate one or both of the short stacks. I doubt I have to explain my reasons for moving in, but i wanted to hear what u guys had to say. On a side note the hands ended up being: Guy under the gun- A3os Guy on the Button- KJ os(folded preflop) Guy in SB- A6os (guy with A3 flopped 2 pair, but ended up chopping with A6 when board paired and kickers didnt play) |
