Hi Java! I love poker too but my bf isn't into poker. He doesn't get it. So my situation is a little different lol. he loves playing Madden Football and Wii but when it comes to poker -- zero interest.

Obviously our play here is for you to get my wife into poker and I'll get your man playing poker.

/win-win

First off, if this is in the wrong section I apologize.

I have only been playing poker seriously for about 3 years now. About 6 months ago I started thinking about poker non-stop. If I'm not playing, I'm watching it on T.V. If I'm not watching, I'm reading books. I constantly try to talk to my friends or wife about poker and they could care less. Lately, I even find myself having a hard time falling asleep because I keep replaying different hands and situations over and over again in my head. Many of my friends and family think I'm nuts but over the last 6 months my game has improved drastically. Is this the kind of mind set it takes to win or am I just crazy? Please tell me there's others like me.

[/ QUOTE ]

That is me. Precisely.

(Except for the watching it on TV part, unless I mute it. Those announcers trying to analyze 4th and 5th level thinking drives me crazy.)

I've been playing for almost 2 years and have been like this since I started. I think it's good as long as you're winning or break even. It's much better then someone who doesn't think about the game and just gambles his money away.

The kind of guys I like having at my table. I definitely went throught that phase after I read my first book. All I wanted to do was absorb as much info about the game as possible. You have to put the work in to truly get good at something.

I think it is pretty normal for most players to go through this in some way or another. cleanupman I'm sure your wife will be all about poker when you take her on vacation or to the mall and spend some of your poker winnings on her.

I'm sitting in the Lounge, watching WSOP 2007 Events DVD, Reading 2+2, and playing micro NLHE on-line - what's not normal??

I read the forums every day.

I read poker books straight through, then usually get another shortly after that.

At lunch I tell my friends at work about the games I play in.

On breaks at work, I'll read the strat forums over a coffee.

At home, I read these forums and make posts like this one. Usually I do it while watching the WSOP, Poker Superstars, or the WPT on TV if it's on.

I play live though, so I don't play at home. My friends find it kind of cool that I can make ~$10K a year by playing cards several times a week. That's not much, but it sure beats the heck out of losing.

So, I guess you are as "normal" as you're going to find at a 2+2 forum.
