Re: Intended Stop and Go flops set
I'm not a big fan of the stop 'n go.
Pre, i'd just move AI or fold depending on what I think his opening range is. As played, definitely bet turn. I would check river. What do you expect him to call you with, 9T? JJ? Occasionally yes, but not enough to outweigh the times you run into a stray 8x. Bet sizing matters too. If you're 2/3rd potting river, it's really hard for you to get called by a worse hand. If you bet like 40% pot, you may induce a bluff, which is a disaster. |

Re: Intended Stop and Go flops set
I'd say you should have carried through with the stop-n-go move... it would have surely looked like one and might have got a call for looking like a bluff.

Re: Intended Stop and Go flops set
i think this hand stunk by both guys(i can say this bc i can admit i stink it up sometimes too) theutg raiser should shove pre. if not hes gotta be raising w plan to shove flop regardless. his check is terrible bc hes got to post bb sb next hands.your call stinks donking off chips w sp and then shoving into utg raiser who is short too and put in 1/3 his stack? id fold if i were you. as played id check flop too, bc i cant see him checking behind as he did, and check turn but shove the river as a "bluff"

Re: Intended Stop and Go flops set
I think most of you are losing a bunch of equity by leading river.
I like the flop check, and I think you MUST bet the turn here, but leading the river is a never-fold situation and you've waited till your hand is the weakest of any street to make your move. If you check river, you're beating far more hands that are betting into you (that will even call a check/raise from you). If you bet river, hands that you're beating will fold, and these same hands will check behind. Net change 0 equity. Straights will jam into you, overpairs + TT-JJ (which are really less likely here) will jam into you /call (but they'd bet into you on this river here), other sets will jam into you (of which you're losing to). So you're hoping to make up for all the hands you're folding by Qx hands and some 9x hands calling you here. I think that leading river has a smaller expected value than check/raising it. |
