Default Re: A Question About Table Selection @ Micro Stakes

I tried selection and it really doesn't make much difference to my winrate. So now I fire up and get in the first 12 with the highest VPIP available with a seat, but honestly, I don't care if it's any random 12.

Congrats on 2500 threads.

Thanks for the replies so far, I have cut my tables down to 4 so that I can concentrate a little more on learning the game rather than just 8-10 table bashing.

I will give the buddylist software a go, I will take you up on the offer of help Mike!

One final question from me...
You have a "decent" shortstack at the table, where do you want him to be - to your left or right (does it matter)

Most people agree that nits should be to your left (for blind stealing etc.) but I have heard people on the forums say keep them to your right.

If they are playing tight, as they should, I would think it would be good to have them sitting on your left. Since they play tight the should be good for stealing hands from preflop.

There is a concept discussed in "Gambling Theory & Other Topics" that statistically explains why it is better to have loose players on your right and tight players on your left. Essentially since loose players play more pots they should be weighted more heavily that tight players. This basically means that you will have position on someone a higher percentage of the time.

Congrats threads...

I do table selection as I only one table currently but I think I should start doing it with as much detail as you. I mainly look for the highest VPIP and Pot size and then make sure there are no short stacks.

Also is there a buddy list for FTP? I would be very interested in that.

There is a button list that is available via an Auto Hotkey script.

Do you use Auto Hotkey?

I believe there is some information on it in the FAQ of the software forum. It is free and lightweight and there are tons of script written by those in the software forum that you may find useful. I used to use the betpot feature that allows you to have different mouse clicks bet different fractions of the pot.

Check it out and see what you think... now that I am reminded of it I will do the same. I haven't had it for a couple months since I built my new PC. (yes, I am a nerd and just wanted to throw in a little minibrag... )

Here is a link to a bunch of AHK scripts. I believe you will find the link to download AHK as well.
