Don't jump on my ass, I'm all for it, I've been trying to get a Canadian permission to enter and work myself, but it's damn near impossible.

Unless the OP is planning on coming into the country and working for someone under the table or picking strawberries, then he won't be able to get a job off of Monster.com is all I was trying to say (unless he has papers, LDO)

You're living in a world class city where the losers at Tim Horton's make $16/hr and you want to move?

Who moves FROM Calgary?

Weird.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT.

The winters kind of blow if you're not into snow sports, but summer in Calgary is great, it's full of attractive women and there's like negative 10% unemployment.

Would move back there in a heartbeat if I could get a visa.

Actually he could get any mech eng job off of Monster.com. As a Canadian with a University Engineering degree he can get any US mechinical engineering job with about 2-4 hours of time spent at the border when crossing.

jj,

i mostly was angry at the crappy thread, not so much with the canadian immigrant thing. if the dollar continues to die of AIDS, i would probably want to come to your country too.

I actually don't like living in the US (but since its NY I like it just fine, I don't really consider it the US ). The reality is I lucked out and got an amazing job, one that is hard to find in either the US or Canada. I'm also doing the US good by working here. In the year and a half I've been at my company they've been hiring the whole time. We can't find enough good people to fill positions. The alternative to my working there isn't an American doing the job, its nobody doing that job.

Details:
me and my friend will be graduating soon from University and hate the city we currently live in.
We intend on heading South of the border and for a nicer environment.

[/ QUOTE ]

To get a job in the US you have to be from south of border.

No it isn't. There are work visas allocated per sector and per country. If your company has the resources to get them it is pretty standard.
