i actually like this line better with 77 than with 99, 77 you could fold some better hands by the river and 99 you're in a pretty weird spot if he raises turn and you're probably not getting any value from a worse hand except possibly two pair.

edit: made this post before reading aj's last post

A sensible player should be folding almost everything there.

Good job this is 100NL then.

heh. In the hand at the table, I had 99. I got to thinking about my turn bet...there's not a whole lot of hands that he can have that call flop and then can call a PSB on the turn. A sensible player should be folding almost everything there. Then, I thought, pot pot would be a sick way to play 77/88...

Meh, if he's passive against donkbets (I know a ton of tags that get really freaked out by them and go into showdown mode) then his calling range isn't really all that narrow here.

I think your cards barely matter here, for the reasons you describe.

I think this is much better with 88 than with 99 or 77

I think you get calls on the turn from a ton of hands that really shouldn't be calling but that people can't fold anyway. If I am playing a good player I like a second barrel bluff here, but against an unknown (even weak-tight) I think too many pair+draws or other strong hands (JT, AJ, QQ, KK, AA) that he just called the flop with will call us. I think especially if a player is somewhat weak-tight that he will just call the flop a decent percent of the time, usually hoping for a safe turn card.
