Pretty sure he was. If he wasn't he would have elaborated. Also there really haven't been any threads lately where a deserving OP failed to get a legitimate answer somewhere in the thread.

You're being a bit paranoid IMO. The reason for the sticky is that some of us like to joke around in this forum, but when someone posts a serious question they really do deserve a serious answer. Most OPs probably don't spend any time in this forum aside from asking a question, so can be puzzled/misled by some of the responses. It appears that Mat enjoys the tone of the forum but also would prefer that people who are asking for help actually get it.
