i think you can call. i think people are more likely to check behind on the turn with a draw than Ax.

I guess he raises 99+ and a lot of aces preflop so I think you can call this river very safely. PF numbers would help here...

Even if you lose a majority of time here (read 50%+) then calling is correct. You can call as long as you win more than 30% of the time because of the odds the pot is offering you.
