Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
26 losses in a row is very unlikely given the salary cap.
Giving up 3 sacks in a season is also impossible. |

The six ties obv, but should be disqualified due to rule changes.
(unless you count six OT as the same thing) |

The two above are untouchable, so is the 42 INT's in a season...wow. [/ QUOTE ] ...Rex Grossman is our quarterback... |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
This list is pretty sick; a lottttt of these are pretty untouchable. Great thread.

I'm surprised Favre's streak is getting votes. The odds Manning breaks Favre's streak has got to be higher than some of these other records being broken. Re: the 8 ints in one game, a few years ago didn't some reserve QB have 7 in one game? I seem to recall Detmer for the Lions but I'm not sure. I don't think that one is anywhere close to being the most untouchable. I agree that 6 ties seems most unlikely to be matched. [/ QUOTE ] I can't possibly imagine how people could rationally vote for Favre's streak over some of the others. |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
FWIW, 8 times a team has intercepted 8 passes or more in a game, and as recently as 2001 a team had 7. So I don't think the record of one QB being intercepted 8 times is as impossible as some of you think.
Surprised Earl Campbell's 4 200 yard games in one season isn't getting more attention considering that only one person has more 200 yard games in his ENTIRE CAREER(OJ Simpson with 6). Also Don Hutson's 8 seasons of leading the league in TDs...the next closest is 3 and only 3 guys ever have that(J Brown, Emmitt, and Lance Alworth). Tough to imagine any team winning 14 straight games, yet alone one led by a QB making his first 14 career starts. Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons seems pretty insane to me. I didn't realize that there was no OT in the past, so I kinda wish I didn't include the 6 tie one then, as its only untouchable due to rule changes. |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
This isn't getting much run...
Fewest Yards Allowed in a season: 1539 by 1934 Chicago Cardinals but that is pretty sick |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
1539 for a season?! They played less games back then no? That is < 100yrds per game in a 16 game schedule. Can't be done in modern football, even if you put an all pro team out there.
This is one of the best internet polls I've ever seen. I suggest you make subsequent polls narrowing the most popular options and eliminating other options until 2 remain. EDIT: Ha Hornecek beat me out! |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
6 ties in a season, the record would be untouchable if it was 3.

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
How is the 8 INT's getting votes. That seems trivially easy compared to some of these others.
