i'd much rather bet bet bet if you want to shove the river because there is no way you can show up with a bluff with this line

[/ QUOTE ]

This is definitely not a bluff.

snowbank,

can you explain your line here? I respect your play so I'm trying to see the value in pushing this instead of c/calling.

right now to me it seems spewy. But I'm open to new suggestions.

I bet this because it's not a board where he has any type of draw, so he was either, a. floating, or b. has me beat. I'm calling when I'm beat here based on our game has been a little aggro. I think I've been aggro enough to where he may even think I was calling his turn bet to try and bluff the river and could try and make a hero call with low pair, but I pretty much felt he may be on 77-99 type hands here and may make the call. It wasn't so much a question of whether I was getting my money in, but whether I liked a check-call better than a shove. He checks behind with 33-99 here and may even give up a float, since many float hands he would have would include an A, which would then give him showdown value on a 2 pair board, instead of being stuck with air and having to bluff his way out of there. Therefore I get no value when I'm ahead, which is why I shoved. Curious as to what others think of it.

i think in an aggro headsup game you can very easily get value from smaller pairs, and maybe even ace high. and alot of the hands you can get value from (small pairs + maybe a high) will check behind to get to showdown if you check to them...so why give them that opportunity imho. make em pay for showdown.

a. A high is never paying you off here ever

b. He never folds worse

c. I think he usually checks behind with 77-99 on the turn but I could be wrong.

d. By shoving here you let him fold all of his floats/bluffs which is pretty ass backwards in a spot like this.

I think this is played well and expect to get looked up by 77-99 a good deal due to the game dyanamic you described.

Right, he is saying that villain should know that you are NEVER bluffing here. I would be really surprised if you get looked up by worse. For the times he calls w/ 77-99 I thinkn are going to gain you less than when you induce bluffs by checking river (as you are stacking to a J either way)
