Varying pf sizes seems to be coming back into fashion, seems to me that all of these systems have inherent strengths and weaknesses, the killer point in favour of 4x + x per limper is

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]its simplicity, particularly for multi-multitabling.

FWIW I used to make it 3.5x when I was first in or in LP and 4x UTG and UTG+1 now I'm lazy and make it 4x+limpers all the time.

Gordon's book was, in this case, was focused on tourney sized raising

You should raise a bit more in ring games where villains aren't faced with elimination

Tried this for a while; it failed miserably. Of course, that could have been my pokering.

It could also have been because the strategy is absolutely horrible.

In the book, "The Mathematics of Poker" by Chen and Ankenman
they describe using this type of strategy in chapter 21.

Does anyone who has read this book have any feedback?

I only vary my UTG raise between 2.5x and 4x. I randomize this as much as humanly possible, then it's 4x + 1 per limper after that.

I raise SC's on occasion and SPP very often UTG, so a 2.5x raise comes in handy here.

Exactly, Gordon has this this all backwards. Especially when you play in an aggressive games, sh for example. You want to raise smaller amounts in late position (CO, & button) because u are being 3betted often from the blinds. And u just dont want to give up when getting crappy odds with hands like 87s or 22.

You manipulate your implied odds before u raise by raising like 2,5x BB or 3 and not 4. Then when u get 3betted, u still have good implied odds to take a flop with those hands.

Wow why arent't you guys adjusting the pf raise size to stack sizes?

I don't think adjusting the pf raise sizes to position makes any sence.
