Nixing cars from the discussion is kinda dumb, since that's the primary thing that people completely blow their money on. They depreciate, and most people buy cars that they shouldn't. By shouldn't, I mean that they end up paying 50-100% of the car's value in interest because they had $2k and bought a $30k car.

Seriously. I've spent thousands on bud I'm sure, and I've never felt like it could've been spent better elsewhere.

Books and DVD's. Some of the books I bought but never read. I did go pretty nuts buying DVD's for years when I would have been better off saving more. But you need a little joy in your life and I didn't have a lot, so ....

as in blown out speakers? i've spent a lot of $ on my stereo crap too, i guess i should add that. but it wasn't lots of small crap that built up. you buy it once, you have it forever. i guess i could see where ur coming from though, my biggest buy is the Kenwood Music Keg for 600$ (20gb hard drive cd changer)

CD's is a good one. Haven't bought one for years, but I bought a ton in high school. What makes it an even bigger waste of money is that they were all stolen

I have drawers full of baseball/basketball cards. Can anyone tell me if these were a waste judging by current prices?

Why is/was buying a CD a waste of money?

I got a $2 allowance and had a pretty hardcore Matchbox and Hot Wheels habit

football cards

bought an $800 CD player for my car when they first came out, which promptly got stolen, then bought a $500 replacement - probably one year's part-time wages tied up in those two
