I would have been. Plenty of people would play AA like this, either to keep pot small in case you have set (doubtful) or to check-raise you. Then when Q hits river, he has to hope you have KK to bet his Aces.

btw, I defintely bet turn anyway and bail if he check-raises.

As played river check correct imo.
