Re: Playing against a limp/reraise
Folding preflop, and putting in more than one bet with one pair, as well as semibluffing are very lol in this spot.

Re: Playing against a limp/reraise
I see some benefits to calling the flop. The board is not very drawy, except for the flush draw, but that won't fold anyway. The only overcard that can come is an ace. True, by raising you may fold out lone aces and you may let the flushdraw pay more to draw, but you may also very well be behind and you make yourself pay as well. If you just call, the others may call as well with junk, giving you some overlay for the times that the LRR-er has you beat. Now it sort of sucks: you paid an extra big bet in a spot where you are probably way behind. Also, in the case he is just betting crap, you want him to continue doing that. It's a bit of a wa/wb situation, but not really because there's two other people in there. I won't blame you for protecting your pair by raising the flop, but I do think a flat call would not be a bad alternative. Maybe even better. I don't know.

There was a post from a long time ago where someone looked for all LRRs in a database and something like 1/3 of them were AA/KK, most of the rest was random stupidity. [/ QUOTE ] Filter out people who are randomly stupid, then filter again for games that are tight pre-flop. Curious what that number would be. |

Re: Playing against a limp/reraise

Re: Playing against a limp/reraise
I would raise the flop b/c I would like the button and the BB out of the hand.

[/ QUOTE ] I think it's more of a ZOMG big pot and we have 2 people behind us who are getting good odds to draw to just about anything mentality. I think it's worth trying to protect our hand here even at the risk of having to put in an extra BB when behind. |

Re: Playing against a limp/reraise
I think you played it fine. A LRR from MP1 could mean many things but the majority of the time it does not mean AA,KK,AK.
On the flop there is almost 7BB in the pot when it is to you. I think calling or folding is not the play with 2 players behind you and you have TP second kicker. I think that protecting your hand and risking a 3-bet has more value than calling or folding when bet into by a suspect hand. The players behind us may still have odds to correctly call but they will very often fold playable hands when such strength is shown. We should be SD bound after the 3-bet. |

You're going to feel like a moron no matter what you do here. As honeybadger noted it's between how you played it and just calling down from the flop. I don't like flatcalling here with 2 opponents behind personally, but I would do it if the pot were already HU. [/ QUOTE ] I think about that post everytime I get LRR. I think you played this perfectly. I think you have to raise the flop to protect your hand, you've got to get to showdown and I hate c/c all the way to the river with two others in the pot. Beyond that it's call down city. It's shocking how many time villian will turn over complete garbage in this spot. |
