Thremp - Most of the CF guys workout right in the morning and then eat aftewards...

Durron - it's a personal thing, sometimes I eat a meal and can't workout for 5 hours, othertimes I can after 2 hours, some people I know eat and go workout 45 minutes afterwards...I don't like working out while feeling full, so I tend to space my workouts far away from previous meals.

If you are trying to build muscle then you can't lift weights on an empty stomach. Anyone who tells you differently doesn't understand human physiology.

Lindsay Lohan was on the diet you describe.

An hour to hour and a half after you eat is considered optimal time to workout. Anything less is getting away from optimal, but eating 30 min before the gym is countless times better then not eating at all.

Thremp,

If I a newbie is looking to add muscle should protein be mandatory before and after a morning workout? Sorry hijack Durron. Thoughts on cardio before/after lifting or if later in the day better?

Yeah there's a thread somewhere about pre-workout and post-workout nutrition. Its the most important of the day. I don't do a whole lot of cardio (None right now), but when I do I separate them from my lifting.

I dont think this question needed Thremp's expertise to answer.

You should be eating protein with every meal of the day.

I reread his question and am not sure if he was referring to an AM cardio session or a lifting session. Though you are right. The finer points of carido are pretty meh to me.
