I lurked what's now called the Televised Poker forum for awhile after being pointed to it at www.televisionwithoutpity.com. Actually Television Without Pity was my "home" forum for at least a couple of years but in my history there I maybe made 100 or so posts because in retrospect I am a terrible fit for their demographic, which is almost entirely misogynistic women and gay guys. The tone generally sucks relative to my taste so I hardly go there anymore. Plus there is HUGE, lame mod worship there and the mods wield their e-peens like nowhere I've ever seen. I honestly find it refreshing that people can speak their mind to a mod here without fear of being banned, like it did there.
(In fact that site's shortcomings were enough for someone to start a site called www.twopsucks.com (which has since morphed into something else) and draw a lot of members over - TWOP mods actually showed up for awhile to address some issues but then they just vanished, obviously because TPTB didn't like them participating there.) Anyway, a RL friend of mine who is a long-time registered poster here but who doesn't post much took a jab at me for reading the TV forum - it really is if not the worst forum on this site then it's tied with NVG - and made an offhanded remark about OOT. I'd never seen the forum on the sidebar but checked it out. I found it really intimidating because not only were the posters smart but no punches were pulled and this was during [censored]'s reign of terror. Eventually I broke down and registered and here we are. I have no qualms about meeting with folks from this site and over a year ago organized a Phoenix get-together and am responsible for the LA one that is going off at the end of this week.
