Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
Other day I'm at Caesar's 5/10 nl in Vegas. Two guys get all in for ~2k pot. One guy flips 88 on 9875 turn, other guy keeps his cards to himself. River is a 6 and the other guy mucks his hand while the 88 says push me the pot... the dealer then says to the guy who threw his hand away but didn't hit the deck, "there is a straight on the board" so the guy flips his hand over which is TT.... showing a higher straight. Ducy this is such a dumbass thing to do for a dealer? [/ QUOTE ] I would go so crazy that they'd have to call security and I'd be barred from Caesar's for life. |

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] There was no play left to help with (so no multi-players to a hand), the hand was over. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. Reading your hand, and deciding whether to show it down or muck it, IS a decision the player must make. He should get no aid in making this decision. [/ QUOTE ] "You may have the winner" is providing unnecessary aid. "are you sure you don't want to turn your cards up sir?" in my opinion would not cross the one player to a hand boundary. Other opinions? [/ QUOTE ] They're both over the line as far as I'm concerned. Being able to read your cards and the board cards and understand hand rankings is a pretty important skill. If you are playing without that skill you don't deserve the pot. |

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
wow on that TT hand i would have called the floor and raised hell. the dealers should shut up and deal!!
what about this one - i raised it up w ak and but called. we get all the $ in on the flop and the final board is KJ89T. i flip over ak and the other guy says you win and is holding his hand so some of the player can see it. as he is about to muck it one of the players not in the hand says you have a straight and the guy tables his hand and wins the pot. some people just can't shut up. i talked to the dealer later and he said he saw the guys hand and the straight and said nothing as the guy had not yet tabled his hand. i always tip a good dealer |

LOL?
I don't know what you guys are all discussing? OF COURSE you have to call the floor and get the dealers ass kicked. If a guy "shoves his card toward the dealer" this means he MUCKS the hand. He expresses a decision! If a guy puts in $20 on the river without saying "Call" the dealer won't ask him "Are you sure you want to call here, Sir? He looks like he has the nuts!"
So if I had had the 33 I would have insta-called the floor. lol. |

Re: Can a Dealer Coach a Player During a Hand?
[ QUOTE ]
I think at showdown all hands should play, let's just see who wins. [/ QUOTE ] If you want to give poker lessons do it between hands. Tell the noob that if he's not sure what he has he can turn over his hand at showdown and the dealer will read it. Until he tables his hand it's "one player to a hand". If there's a royal flush on board and my opponent is trying to muck, you muck his cards and push me the pot. |

[ QUOTE ]
Dealer says "Don't you want to turn your cards up." Player shakes his head no. Dealer says "Turn your cards up. You may have the winner." Player in seat 7 (out of the hand) says "Turn your cards up." Was the dealer out of line here? I believe he was. [/ QUOTE ] Dealer was way out of line and so was seat 7. |

Dealer shouldn't be "coaching" but if it's a new player in a low limit game, they're probably better off asking for the cards to be turned up IF the player hasn't thrown them towards the dealer/muck. |
