Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.

You limp in with AQ UTG? Personally it's an open fold for me 80% of the time. [/ QUOTE ] I don't always play AQo UTG. I either raise or fold, usually leaning towards a fold. |

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
I am surprised how many players aren't playing this UTG. I generally never fold it. The choice is between a limp and a raise, not a raise and a fold.
Also, sometimes I will limp this and reraise it. |

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
Here's my estimate of the hand range for the villain here. I'm going to throw out AA and KK due to preflop play. So that leaves:
77, 99, TT, JJ, QQ AK, AQ, A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J:sapde:, A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T:sapde:, A9s JTs, KQs 86s, T8s, 97s What do folks think of that range? You're crushed by: 77 (3 combos), 99 (3), QQ (1), 97s (3) You're slightly behind: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1) You're flipping with: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1), 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1), A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1), J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1) You're slightly ahead of: JTs (3), 68s (3), T8s (3) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1), A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (1) You're crushing: KQs (2), JJ (6), TT (6), AK (9) With the following scare cards: K (4), J (4), T (4), 8 (4), 6 (4), 5 (4), any-[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7) So to me it looks like you're ahead here on the flop (anyone want to stove it?), but 31 of 47 remaining cards are bad for you. Call flop and shove non-scare turn? 3-bet now? RIO just fold? Help. |

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
First of all, this is not a weird spot. It's pretty standard and highlights how playing out of position sucks. Given KurtSF's range, we have 61% equity, which sounds rather high. Some of these hands are played this way less often than others, though, so I think 61% equity is quite generous.
How about calling here then bet/folding safe turns and check/folding bad ones. |

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
You have no reads on villain, other than he's a fairly tight, standard player. He seems to be making a standard move, probably trips, but possibly a str8 or flush draw semi-bluff. W/ out better info., you should fold, because you're likely behind now w/ little chance of catching up, and if you are ahead, there's a decent chance you won't be by the river.

Can putting $4 more into the pot be a good idea when you are planning on doing so much folding on the turn? Even with 61% equity you need a lot of IO to make up for putting in more money when you're planning on c/fing 70+% of turn cards, no. |

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
Are you counting 7s and 9s as bad cards? I think they're actually very good cards, possibly the best in the deck. Not the seven of spades, of course.

Re: 25NL weird AQ spot.
That said, you're definitely in a RIO spot here, and folding can't be that bad.
