when i was visiting a college for a campus visit, they put me in a dorm for the night. i had a cigarette in the room, set off the fire alarm for the entire dorm, everyone was evacuated, etc. i ended up not attending that school.

You need to smoke so much that you can't see further than 2 metres for it to go off.

ha, thats how much I smoke. at least 20 blunts/day.

You guys have great luck with smoke detectors. I've had many go off with just a passing breeze. Or go off in the middle of the night for no reason while everyone was sleeping, etc. Just all the time. I've disabled most smoke detectors in any room or home I've lived in because they basically give false alarms like crazy. I pretty much take it for granted that if they get set off by nothing, a cigarette is definitely trouble.

I've had smoke alarms go off in hotels with the steam from the shower, but if you open the window and put a sock/plastic bag over the detector, it should be fine to smoke. I've smoked in a load of hotel rooms and never had one go off with this method.

Take out the battery.

Dont forget to place burning candles and incense on a paper plate to mask the smell.
