Re: Throwning away trip aces
[ QUOTE ] this is awful. Why do you want any Ax to outdraw you giving them a freeride to a two pairs? Raise and let the fish call you with Ax, that is what you want and if they fold just pocket free chips. [/ QUOTE ] I had been always raising with it as well, but then I saw this on sngicon videos where they would occasionally just call. The explanation was that by raising you make a lot of the hands you'd want in there (a-x) fold, and that at the low levels enough people will go broke with just an ace. I think they said also it was so you can limp-re raise and flip with overlay but that isn't applicable here. For example if someone raises I might fold AJ or ATs, but in a limped pot I might call with it and get in some trouble when only the ace flops. I'd be in trouble if they hit 2 pair or 3 of a kind, but doesn't that happen a lot less often? Like if I just limp and the 44 stays in, it comes AA8, that 44 might call some bets after the flop. |

Re: Throwning away trip aces
I do agree with the previous posts that you need to raise more. Yet, I think 250 is too much. I'd much rather see a raise to 200, maybe 225. You'd like to get value with your AK, esp with all the dead money in the pot.
Knowing this is a $5 STT I don't think you should have folded. There are many hands that players at this level will continue with (A2s+, A9o+ 88+). I think recognizing a fold here at such a low level is a good sign that you are playing well above your level. GL, MrE2All |

Re: Throwning away trip aces
Folding this river would be disgusting, thinking otherwise is being very results oriented. As others have said the preflop minraise is bad, I might lead this flop and I'm betting bigger the whole way.
