OK gimme a range from UTG that were ahead of.

Oh wait. Were not.

Against the top 13% were still a 45/55 dog, and the blinds are pretty close to 10% of our stack, so.. .yeah this is a fold. It really isnt very close. Even if theres 100 antes our equity with .45 of the pot is... yeah negative EV.

Oh and best of all, theres players behind us that can wake up with a hand and we dont close the action.

its a fold and its not very close.

Settle down 4Card

You are incorrect here... it's UTG+1, not UTG, and it may as well be MP2... it doesn't really matter

It's a .50 tourney

Code:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 42.918% 39.01% 03.91% 79486362 7964367.50 { KdQd }
Hand 1: 57.082% 53.17% 03.91% 108349079 7964367.50 { 77+, ATs+, KJs+, ATo+, KJo+ }

Add in fold equity and the dead money in the pot it's a push IMO

But I'll admit it's much closer than I originally thought

Hand 1: Shove preflop. You won't induce any folds, but you will get called by a wider range of hands. Plus, it's a 50 cent tourney with a huge field and you have 13 BB. You have to take chances like these to win.

Hand 2: Either re-raise or fold preflop

Ok, so were clearly behind his range.

He is highly likely to call, so much that our fold equity is negligible. We certainly have people behind that can wake up with JJ+AKs+ and those are pretty devestating.

Im not sure how it being a 50cent tourney somehow implies that its acceptable to take negative EV gambles.

Im not particularily worked up, its just not a +EV push. And I got worked up a little in the first post because someone came here saying were about a 50/50 against his range and were clearly not. Pokerstove isnt hard to use, we can all see that against a tight range from UTG or UTG+1 that KQs is a major dog, and the blinds arent enough to overcome it, nor is fold equity here.

I stand by that a push is -EV.

This is a supereasy fold... I would almost never shove KQs unless we have a raise from late position and I am on the blinds.

4card is right. espec since that 4x on stars is a blatant tell of a hand that ia never folding and usually better than ours.

alright thanks, but lets say this guy folds... do I muck or show to put him on major tilt so I can wreck him in a later hand when I got something legit?

[/ QUOTE ]

At this stage you're far more likely to find another stealing/bluffing spot before you find a legitimate hand so the last thing you want is to build up a 'maniac' image.
