I'm not sure if other grad school applies in your medical/dental/vet school question but there's a ton of research to be done both in academic and nonacademic institutions.

BS in Microbiology. 20 years industrial fermentation development. Run projects, manage a couple of folks, pretty decent gig. Probably would be better with PhD, but life intervened.

i have a bs in biology, got meh grades getting it and am getting a masters in biochem now, to try to get into dental school.

bio degree is useful for labs/research that pay crap and don't go anywhere. Well, don't go anywhere that pays $$. If you genuinely like bio you can do research, get a phd, etc etc, and probably end up content. otherwise, med/dental/pharmacy or bust.
