I think thats a horrible spot to check behind..if you want him to fold a king you better put in a bet on the flop.

I don't want to highjack Bond's thread discussing my hand so I'll just stick to the theme of the OP: when to cbet and when to check back. My reasons for checking here, in no particular order, are:
1. I don't have a made hand but I have outs. I don't want to get blown off this hand if I bet and Russ shoves.
2. I have position.
3. Russ has been very aggro and he is likely to c/shove or c/raise a lot.
4. We've been playing together since the final two tables and I have been cbetting a lot. I am mixing it up with delayed cbets as well.

For those who say cbet in this spot, are you calling if Russ shoves? In the moment, I wasn't sure if I would call off over half my stack on this draw. So, I decided to check back and fire any turn.

He's not likely to fold a K to a cbet here. We're three-handed and I'm raising like every other hand. I don't get credit for an A bc I fire one barrel.

1. I said if you want him to fold a K at any point in the hand, you should bet the flop.

2. Your hand has nothing to do with Bond's OP.

3. I can't believe you think you can get blown off this draw if you bet the flop.

betgo starting threads in any other forum is good, too

fsoyars: the flop check is meh, but by no means the really bad decision in this hand.

It's really a matter of knowing your opponents. What kind of hands is he likely to call with there preflop and what will he do with them against a bet. There's really no simple general answer, but things like flop texture and stack sizes are very important for making educated guesses when you don't know that much about your opponents specific tendencies.
