Wow, some seriously terrible advice so far.

Checking the flop is fine sometimes. Sometimes I bet and sometimes I check. If I bet, I'm not folding to a push.

As played, it's real tough on the river. I don't think it matters much longterm what you do. What's making it close is that Villain "kinda sucks". Who is it? What I'd do would depend on who it is (call or fold obviously). LOL at value shoving on the river, whoever suggested that.

I'm sorry but checking this draw-heavy flop in the hopes of inducing a bluff later is just silly IMHO. You are way too shallow for such moves. Bet out, and if he flat-called with a better Ace instead of 3-betting, or has you beat some other way, such is life. Giving a free card is just sick.

Who said that's why I check the flop sometimes? Giving a free card isn't nearly as sick as you think it is.

Um... I guess you are playing it WA/WB? Which means you will give two free cards? Anyway, thanks for letting us all guess at what you are doing, instead of explaining yourself.

With attitude like that I'm definitely not going to bother. OP knows, as this is why he checked the flop. His question is about the river.

I guess I would go with a cbet most of the time although if villain is a donk he prob calls with KJ poss QJ in this spot. As he's betting the turn we have a tough decision now. I bet the flop and put the brakes on if he's calling. Tell me he had KJ?

congrats on your first 225 post.

i always find these spots interesting when i raise Ax from the button, get called by a bad player from the bb, then hit this ace on the flop.

i c-bet this flop just because it is a tad drawy. a free card is not a big problem but i prefer a c-bet. i think the bb is calling your preflop raise faily wide so lots of str8's are in his range, in addition to the FD, etc. i would check flop if it was AhJh6d just becasue it would remove one str8 draw or if it was a rainbow flop.

as played, you have shown no strength. i'd call the river.

I'm never checking the flop against a bad player. He will call with so much worse = value 4 u. On the river, I call pretty fast v. a bad player getting those odds.

I would always check this flop if it were rainbow, but I would also probably check back close to 100% of my range. As played I like how you played it if you call river. You are getting really good odds and he could have KQ or something stupid.

As played, i think you have to call this river. Sick odds, and you have WAYYYYY under repped your hand. Your hand looks kinda like a scared mid-PP or something, maybe 99 or TT. I expect to see a single J or K here a good percentage of the time.
