If you are going to make an argument against American football, talking about toughness doesn't bode well for you.

or at the very least real football, not the fake kind

I wonder how what % of the World thinks of your sport when someone says the word football compared to the amount of people that think of 'soccer' when someone says football? Probably like 5% or soemthing?

I got you TOTALLY owned at football.
Or at least my brother does.
He is the owner of Oldham Athletic.

Here are the places in the world that speak English and are worth a damn: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand

In the US and Canada, when we say football, we mean American/ Canadian football.
In Ireland, when they say football, they mean Gaelic football.
I've never been to Australia or New Zealand but it's my understanding that when Aussies say football, they're talking about Aussie-rules football; and that when Kiwis say football, they're talking about rugby.

So basically the entire English speaking world other than the UK is talking about something else when they talk about football.

There are many sports that are called football. Soccer is just one of them. British people, please stop committing the same fallacy that us Americans are so notorious for making: thinking that the rest of the world is just like us.

You seem to have forgotten all the rest of the world.
Not everyone speaks English but most of them still use their translation of the words foot and ball to mean the English version.

[/ QUOTE ] this doesnt make sense? also football should be called football on the basis that it was popularised by the English also that we are the ones who spread the game round the world and owned all your countries.. proof below... i dont mind americans changing jeans to pants although its silly LOL but changing football to soccer is just not acceptable.. the end
